The Kumaon Google Nimesh Shah Local Guide·63 reviews·34 photos Dine in | Dinner We had stayed in May 2023 for 4 nights . Writing a late review as we were caught with other things Location was beautiful. Well planned rooms with terrace. Food options limited but wholesome and tasty. Strongnoff was the chef's favourite as we were served that twice in 4 days. Drive from Pant Nagar Airport was long. We had an unfortunate incident wherein my wife slipped down the slippery staircase made of polished wood and ended up with a forearm and rib fracture. The staff put her in a car and took us to a doctor. We continued to stay post that incident till we left on 11/5. The next day when we asked for breakfast to be served in the room we were told that hotel policy did not allow that. Till we left we noticed that no sign of warning was put up for the polished stairs nor anti skid tapes were applied. This is inspite of fellow senior citizens residing in at the same time. They even refused to sign and stamp a document stating that an accident occured their premises for our insurance purpose needed for.the surgery. The staff even mentioned that few of their own too had slipped and fallen on the same staircase.. God help if anyone had a leg fracture at the site. It's a good 300-400 metres walkmto.the vehicle. The manager has a very callous attitude. Ideally they should have offered to serve in room all.meals. As the only dining area was via the same staircase. This wasn't entertained. The Kumaon charges a bomb, but doesn't deliver in hospitality, and showed lack of empathy to a guest injured on premises due to no fault of theirs. It could have been avoided had they pasted antiskid strips . The only pressure was trying to convince us to utilise their hotel sponsered activities. Had this happened in any other reputed hotel chain. Manager would have been all out to offer help and show some concern atleast. Totally callous and immature behaviour. My wife being a professional was not able to work for 4 months post the accident. They even ask you to sign a disclaimer that they will not be responsible for any accidents in their premises Basically detached front desk and manager.

The entry is very deceptive but as you get inside its feels like another world. Superb experience of trek and trails, learnt how you can live along with nature around us. And the food was great lunch Indian thalis and dinner was continental fare. But mostly it was the people around who made the difference, starting from Meenakshi & Pushkar at the reception , Abhinav the general manager , Chef Navin Adhikari all were true blue examples of Indian hospitality. And the guide Nandan who has great knowledge of the flora, fauna and the wild life around, he is great story teller aware of all the local culture, stories and tales. Overall a great experience kudos to the entire team.

I have just spent 5 memorable and blissful nights at The Kumaon. Abhinav and his team are the most welcoming, helpful and thoughtful hosts. My room was perfect - great sleeps, lovely toiletries, and the view! I could never tire of looking at the mountains and the light shining across the valley. The food at all meals was excellent - varied and delicious. The female massage therapist was lovely and excellent. I’d highly recommend a stay in this unique and special accommodation!

This may be the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. From the moment I arrived the staff could not do enough to ensure my stay was more than I could ever ask for. The food is delicious, local and healthy and the waiters are always a step ahead with incredible service with a smile. The housekeeping was the best Ive ever experienced, the room was spotlessly clean at all times and they even lit me a fire in the room and turned on my electric blanket in the evenings. I did complimentary yoga on the roof every morning with Nisha. Shes a fantastic teacher and she really set me up for the day, not to mention the beautiful backdrop of the Himalaya and breathing in the fresh clean mountain air. There are many hikes of all levels to go explore and I had naturists accompany me Nandan and Suraj, both a wealth of knowledge on the nature in the area, I absolutely loved these excursions exploring the beauty all around the area. The manager Abhinav and front of house Meenakshi are the dream team, they are available at all times to ensure your stay is everything you dreamed it to be. I felt like part of a family and was genuinely going to miss all the staff on leaving. This is a very special place. The energy of the location brought me into deep meditative states and I feel like my nervous system relaxed and my intuition heightened and I felt really connected to myself, the mountain, Shiva and everyone around me.

The combination of a breathtaking view of snow-capped mountains, impeccable food that satisfies both the palate and the gut, and a team of courteous and attentive staff can truly make a stay memorable. The stunning views of snow-capped mountains from both the room and the restaurant have added an extra layer of magic to your overall experience. Whether it's the tranquil beauty during the day or the awe-inspiring sight of the mountains under the night sky, such views can create lasting memories and contribute to a sense of relaxation and wonder. Acknowledging Abhinav, the General Manager, for ensuring a supremely serene experience reflects an understanding of the importance of effective management in creating a pleasant atmosphere. Such experiences are not only about the physical setting but also the dedication and efforts of the team behind the scenes. Drawbacks of property : After the first person takes a shower you need to wait for half an hour for next person. Also hot water runs just for 5 minutes. In winter we had a bad experience of this. Location drawback : Especially for guests who may find it difficult to manage a 200-meter gradual steep walk, especially those above the age of 55. Some facility should be there. Pricing quite high for external nature walks or river side tea time. The charge 3000/- per couple and you end up going for an hour drive in your own car. For tea only cookies and tea is served.
